Peshawar (Khyber Mail): A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck parts of Pakistan on Thursday morning, causing widespread tremors across various regions.

The earthquake occurred at 5:56am UTC (10:56am Pakistan time), according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The epicenter of the quake was located in the Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan, with a depth of 215 kilometers.

The tremors were felt across several cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mardan, Malakand, Hangu, Buner, Shangla, Dir, and Charsadda. Additionally, the quake was felt in major cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.

Residents reported feeling the ground shake, prompting many to rush out of their homes and workplaces in alarm. Despite the significant tremors, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or major structural damage. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged the public to remain calm while taking necessary precautions.

Emergency services and disaster management teams have been put on alert to respond swiftly in case of any aftershocks or related incidents.
