The relationship between the United States and Pakistan has always carried a stronger security dimension especially when it comes to the region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This area borders Afghanistan and has experienced years of militancy, cross border movement and instability. Because of this, both countries understand that cooperation is necessary for long term peace. When the US Deputy Chief of Mission visited this region back in 2023, it signaled that the US wanted to strengthen its partnership at a deeper and more practical level. At that time, the visit drew attention not only in Pakistan but also in diplomatic circles abroad.
