New Delhi/Islamabad (Khyber Mail): India has officially confirmed that its armed forces carried out precision missile strikes in Pakistan and Pakistani Jammu and Kashmir (JK) as part of Operation Sindoor. The strikes targeted nine locations, which Indian authorities claim were directly involved in planning and directing terrorist attacks against India.

The Indian government emphasized that the operation was focused, measured, and non-escalatory, stating that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted. Officials described the strikes as a response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national were killed.

Videos and images circulating on social media purportedly show the aftermath of the strikes, including damage to suspected terror launchpads in Bahawalpur and JK. However, independent verification of these visuals remains pending.

Indian authorities reiterated their commitment to holding those responsible for the Pahalgam attack accountable, stating that Operation Sindoor was conducted with considerable restraint in both target selection and execution methods.

Pakistan has yet to issue an official response to the strikes, but tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors remain high. Analysts warn that the situation could escalate further depending on Pakistan’s next move.
