ISLAMABAD (Agencies): Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong reaffirmed the unbreakable friendship between China and Pakistan, stating that both countries have consistently supported each other in challenging times. In an exclusive interview with PTV news channel, he emphasized that the two nations will continue to work collectively to safeguard their mutual interests and address global challenges.

Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong highlighted that China and Pakistan share a unique and time-tested all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. He expressed confidence that this enduring friendship will be passed down through generations and remain unwavering.

Regarding bilateral cooperation, he mentioned that the governments of China and Pakistan have decided to collaborate and develop various sectors, including agriculture, industry, and transport. While national-level investments and cooperation will be expanded, special attention will be given to marginalized and less-developed areas.

He emphasized that China and Pakistan are not only good neighbors but also good friends and brothers to each other. The recent visit of Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, as a special presidential envoy, signifies the significance both countries place on deepening their bilateral ties.

Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong praised the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as an important pioneering project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The CPEC has brought significant Chinese investments to Pakistan, leading to the establishment of power plants and the development of the strategically important Gwadar port on the Arabian Sea, as well as the enhancement of transport infrastructure.

He noted that CPEC projects have flourished across Pakistan, making tangible contributions to the country’s national development and regional connectivity. The CPEC has become a new benchmark for the strong friendship between China and Pakistan over the past decade.
