DUBAI (Agencies): Dubai is once again pushing the boundaries of architectural ambition with plans to build a $5 billion moon-shaped resort designed to simulate the experience of visiting the lunar surface—no rocket required.
The project, proposed by Canadian company Moon World Resorts Inc., is set to rise approximately 735 feet (224 meters) high and will feature a strikingly realistic lunar exterior, complete with craters and textured terrain. Dubbed “MOON”, the structure is envisioned as both a luxury destination and a tribute to space exploration.
A centerpiece of the futuristic complex will be its simulated lunar surface, allowing guests to don astronaut-style suits and “walk on the Moon.” Beyond space-themed experiences, the resort will also offer 4,000 luxury suites, a 10,000-seat arena, spa, nightclub, event center, retail space, and fine-dining options—all within the spherical shell of the Moon replica.
The resort is aiming to meet LEED Gold five-star sustainability standards, with a focus on green technology and energy efficiency.
Although the exact location has not yet been confirmed, developers are reportedly eyeing the long-abandoned Dubai Pearl project site for the build. Once approved, construction is expected to take approximately 48 months, with completion potentially between 2025 and 2027.
MOON Dubai is set to be the first of four such resorts worldwide, as part of Moon World Resorts’ global vision to blend space tourism, entertainment, and luxury hospitality.
The announcement has captured the imagination of travelers and space enthusiasts alike, with tourism experts calling it “Las Vegas meets the Apollo program—with a spa.”
As Dubai continues to redefine what’s possible in leisure and tourism, MOON may just become the UAE’s most out-of-this-world attraction yet.
