WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD/New DELHI (Agencies): In a landmark agreement, India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire, bringing an end to the recent escalation in military exchanges. The decision comes following intense diplomatic efforts led by the United States, with both nations pledging to halt hostilities.

Sources confirm that the ceasefire was finalized during a call between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of both nations at 3:35 PM Indian Standard Time (IST). The agreement is set to officially take effect at 5:00 PM IST on Saturday, though some reports suggest an unofficial cessation of attacks may have already begun at 4:30 PM IST.
The announcement follows days of intense missile and airbase strikes along the border, fueling fears of broader conflict. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed optimism about the ceasefire, stating that Pakistan remains committed to maintaining peace while safeguarding its sovereignty. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, meanwhile, described the agreement as “a necessary step towards stability.”
US President Donald Trump played a key role in brokering the ceasefire, announcing the agreement on his social media platform, Truth Social. Trump stated, “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence.”
The US mediation was led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who engaged in high-level discussions with both Indian and Pakistani officials to de-escalate tensions. US Vice President JD Vance also played a role in facilitating the negotiations.
Pakistan initiated Operation ‘Bunyan Marsoos’ early Saturday morning with a series of rocket strikes, followed by air raids and intense artillery bombardment. The offensive resulted in significant losses for India, including the destruction of another Rafale jet, distruction of an S-400 air defense system, and severe impacts on multiple military installations.
Pakistan also launched complex cyber attack on Indian power grids forcing 70 percent of grids to loose power. also Pak Air Force jammed military satellite crippling their defense and making Indians unable to offer effective resistance, forcing them to seek meditation for ceasefire from US and other allied countries.
With hostilities paused, both nations are expected to initiate peace talks at a neutral location to address lingering tensions. Global leaders have welcomed the move, praising both sides for choosing diplomacy over further escalation.
