Makarwal, Mianwali District (Agencies): In a major counter-terrorism breakthrough, security forces killed 10 terrorists during a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the hilly region of Makarwal, located near the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border.

The operation, launched on the basis of confirmed intelligence about the presence of 10 to 15 Khariji terrorists, was carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab, local police, and Rangers. A fierce gun battle took place during the raid, resulting in the deaths of 10 terrorists. Some of the militants were reportedly killed by friendly fire from within their own ranks during the intense encounter.

Senior security officials, including the Regional Police Officer (RPO), were present at the site and directly supervised the operation. Fortunately, all members of the security forces, including personnel from the police, CTD, and Rangers, remained unharmed during the exchange.

Authorities lauded the professionalism and swift response of the forces involved. They reiterated their firm resolve to continue eliminating terrorist threats and ensuring peace and security across the region.

The Makarwal operation is part of broader and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts by Pakistani security agencies, particularly in sensitive border areas, to prevent the resurgence of militant elements and protect civilian lives.
