KARAK (Khyber Mail): The 4th International Conference on the Impact of Research on Society commenced today at Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak (KKKUK). The two-day conference brings together academics, researchers, and professionals to discuss the crucial role of research in addressing societal issues, problems, and challenges.
The opening ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naseer Ud Din, Vice Chancellor of KKKUK, as the Chief Guest. Other notable attendees included Registrar Dr. Ghani Ur Rehman, keynote speakers from across the country, heads of different sections and teaching departments, faculty members, and a large number of students from various disciplines.
Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naseer Ud Din underscored the vital role of research in societal development and the responsibility of universities to contribute to positive change. He emphasized that research needs to be prioritized by both the government and academia, and praised the organizing committee, the Department of Library and Information Science (LIS), for their efforts in organizing such a valuable event of global significance.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Saeed Ullah Jan highlighted the importance of research in understanding and solving pressing social issues. He underlined the conference’s aim to foster dialogue and collaboration among researchers from diverse fields and thanked the distinguished guests for their invaluable participation.
The conference features an impressive lineup of international and national keynote speakers, including Teresa S. Welsh, Dr. Susmita Chakraborty, Dr. Arif Khan, Dr. Asad Ullah Khan, Zakir Hussain, and M. Sakis Biswas. National keynote speakers include Prof. Syed Liaqat Ali, Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Arshad, Mr. Raja Javed Iqbal, Syed Arif, and Dr. Asad Khan. They will share their insights and expertise on a range of topics related to the impact of research on society in different sessions scheduled over the two days.
The conference is organized by the Department of Library and Information Science at KKKUK in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan Librarians Society. The event provides a platform for researchers to present their work, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations for the betterment of society.
