Tarbela Ghazi (Dr. Pervaiz Akhtar Awan): In a powerful initiative aimed at raising awareness about the corrosive impact of corruption on society, Government Degree College (GDC) Ghazi recently hosted an Anti-Corruption Day event. The program delved into the far-reaching consequences of corruption, including unemployment, surging inflation, and the widening disparity between legitimate income and extravagant lifestyles—factors that fuel unethical practices and insatiable greed.

The event began with Principal Professor Sadiqur Rehman’s insightful address. He emphasized that corruption has permeated every stratum of society, urging students and citizens alike to take a firm stand against this deeply entrenched menace. The impact of corruption extends beyond the youth—it affects the very fabric of our community.

Spiritual beginnings set the tone for reflection. Sawera Naz, a first-semester BS student, recited verses from the Holy Quran, followed by Professor Asim’s moving rendition of Naat Sharif.

Students from various semesters actively contributed by delivering heartfelt speeches in both Urdu and English. Among them, Gandapur, a passionate First-Year Arts student, eloquently incorporated verses from renowned poet Habib Jalib. His speech underscored the urgent need for societal reform.

The keynote speaker, Professor Muhammad Farooq Shah, delivered a stirring message: “Corruption is a cancer gnawing at the heart of our society. Upholding integrity, transparency, and accountability is crucial to safeguard our nation’s future.” He called for collective efforts to restore trust in public and private institutions.

Faculty perspectives further reinforced the message. Head of the English Department, Professor Zahoor Ahmed, along with Professors Roshan Khan and Rizwan Alam, emphasized the importance of ethical behavior, discipline, and respect for the law. They highlighted that corruption not only tarnishes the nation’s reputation globally but also stifles its progress. Their appeal resonated: Every individual’s actions contribute to collective change.

The event was meticulously organized by Professor Bakht Zameen and Mr. Naseer Muhammad Awan, ensuring uninterrupted power and flawless arrangements. A large number of students, faculty members, and staff were present, all of whom benefitted from the insightful discussions and motivational speeches.

The program concluded with a heartfelt collective prayer for Pakistan’s well-being and the thriving success of GDC Ghazi, echoing hopeful words: “May Pakistan prosper and GDC Ghazi thrive. May this land be blessed with everlasting peace. And may every blossom that blooms here flourish undisturbed by decay.”

This event serves as a beacon of hope—a call to action against corruption, with the belief that individual commitment can lead to transformative societal change.
