ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Universities BPS Teachers Association (APUBTA) delegation comprised of the President APUBTA Dr. Sami ur Rahman, Media Secretary Dr. Hafsa Jamshed, GS Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad, Dr Kamran Zakriya and Dr Saad Qasim from NED university Karachi, Dr Imtiaz Shafiq from the University of Punjab, Dr Pakeeza Arzoo, Arid Agriculture university Islamabad yesterday had a meeting with the honourable Federal Minister of Education Mr Rana Tanveer at Parliament Secretrate Islamabad.
The president APUBTA explained the bad consequences of the dual and discriminatory policies for teachers of public sector universities. He explained the grievances of exploitation of 90 percent teaching community. The GS Punjab briefed him about the longstanding issues and the struggles of APUBTA and the Vice President added that the discriminatory policies of HEC are annoying and badly damaging the standards of the highly esteemed institutions in presence of the clear provision of the service structure in the HEC ordinance. The respected Minister’s showed concern over the discriminatory actions, activities, and negligence of the fundamental rights and assured his support for the BPS community and called the Executive Director for updates on resolving the matter and asked about the signed agreement in presence of the DC ICT Islamabad. The Minister further strictly directed the ED to share the recommendations before approval of the commission as unfortunately, she was unable to properly communicate the progress as per the signed agreement. The honourable minister further assured that he shall discuss the matter with the Chairman HEC to resolve the longstanding issues of the university BPS Teachers before the protest on roads and closures of the universities.
The president and the cabinet members thanked for taking a sincere interest in resolving the longstanding situation.
