Lahore (Khyber Mail): Beaconhouse National University (BNU), a prestigious art institution renowned for its commitment to education and social responsibility, has taken a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability by launching the “CCES” Go Green Campaign. This initiative aims to inspire communities through various activities such as seed sowing, tree planting, painting pots, scavenger hunting, and marches, all aimed at addressing climate challenges in Pakistan.

The launch event, held at the university’s Main Ground, was attended by students, faculty, environmentalists, and community leaders who pledged their commitment to a cleaner, greener future. The initiative focuses on promoting afforestation, reducing waste, and raising awareness about eco-friendly practices.

Ms. Warda Shah, speaking at the event, emphasized the urgency of the cause: “Pakistan is at the forefront of the climate crisis, and as an educational institution, it is our responsibility to lead the way in finding sustainable solutions. The Clean & Green Initiative is not just a program but a movement to inspire collective action.”

Key components of the initiative include:

  • Tree Plantation Drives: Aiming to plant trees across the campus within the next six months.
  • Waste Reduction Campaigns: Promoting recycling and reducing single-use plastics on campus and in local communities.
  • Awareness Workshops: Conducting workshops to educate students and locals about sustainable living practices.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborating with local governments and NGOs to expand the program’s impact.
  • Engaging Activities: Including painting pots and scavenger hunts to foster community involvement.

One enthusiastic student shared their excitement: “We are excited to be part of this transformative journey. Together, we can make a real difference and inspire others to join this important cause.”
