Islamabad (Khyber Mail): The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Pakistan hosted a reception to mark the 33rd Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event brought together distinguished guests, including diplomatic representatives, government officials, and members of the business and academic communities.

His Excellency the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina Emin Cohodarevic, expressed gratitude to the Honorary Consuls of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar for their unwavering support in strengthening bilateral ties. Special acknowledgment was given to Mr. Faizan Badar, Secretary of the Federal Tax Administration of Pakistan, for his contributions to fostering cooperation between the two nations.
Reflecting on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s journey to independence, the Ambassador paid tribute to those who defended the country’s sovereignty. He expressed deep appreciation for the support extended by Pakistan during Bosnia and Herzegovina’s struggle for independence and reaffirmed the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Emin emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina values Pakistan as a country of rich traditions and warm hospitality. He stressed that people-to-people connections are the foundation of lasting bilateral relations.
The Ambassador noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina has witnessed steady growth in its relationship with Pakistan over the past three decades. He highlighted recent diplomatic engagements, including the Second Round of Bilateral Consultations, and expressed optimism about further strengthening relations through upcoming high-level visits.
Addressing Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration efforts, he reaffirmed the country’s commitment to joining the European Union. He noted the significant progress made, including the granting of EU candidate status in December 2022 and the European Council’s decision to open accession negotiations on March 21, 2024. He also reiterated Bosnia and Herzegovina’s aspirations to become a NATO member, highlighting the country’s contributions to global peacekeeping efforts.
The Ambassador Cohodarevic, concluded by acknowledging the challenges facing the international community, including the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. He underscored the moral responsibility of nations to seek peaceful resolutions and uphold human dignity.
In his closing remarks, the Ambassador extended heartfelt thanks to all attendees for their friendship and support, reaffirming the strong bond between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Pakistan.
