Prof Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), welcomed the faculty members from thirty-four universities across the country, who were the training participants and, on an exposure visit to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad from 13th to 16th September 2022.

Kohat University of Science & Technology (KUST) in collaboration with the HEC and United States Education Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) organized the Training Program for Academic Leadership in Research, Teaching, and Services from June-Sep 2022 followed by an exposure visit.

Prof Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad appreciated the Quality Assurance Agency, HEC, KUST & USEFP partnership for capacity building of the University’s faculty and furthering the objectives of US Pakistan University Grants Program. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr. Sardar Khan, VC KUST presented gratitude to the Chairman HEC for HEC’s support to KUST for the training program. He also thanked the US Embassy & USEFP for their generous funding support extended to KUST for the purpose.

Dr. Nasir Shah, Director General Quality Assurance Agency briefed and guided participants on applied aspects of quality assurance while Mr. Amjad Hussain Director General Research and Development gave a comprehensive briefing on research grant programs offered by the HEC.

Dr. Shahid Mehmood Baig, Chairman and his team, Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) Islamabad briefed the participants during their visit to PSF on the cross-cutting research areas for addressing and solving various socio-economic, ecological, industrial, environmental and financial issues the country is faced with.

The Participants also visited Ayubia National Park-Nathia Gali, one of the best representatives of remaining patches of Himalayan moist temperate forest to physically observe applied biodiversity conservation and management practices and link them with their respective research assignments at BS, MS and PhD level in their universities. USEFP representative Mr. Shahram Niazi also graced the occasion with his presence, met the participants and discussed the ways and means for the sustainability of partnerships enabled by the USEFP.

The participants of the training program and exposure visit highly appreciated USEFP, KUST and HEC for organizing a very useful and productive training and an exposure visit, which they said would positively impact in improving their quality of higher education at par with highest standards of quality assurance and practices. At the end, VC KUST thanked the visiting faculty members for their participation in the training program and exposure visit.
