Islamabad (Agencies): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board on Thursday approved the allotment of land to the National Police Academy for the establishment of a Police University in Islamabad. This initiative aims to enhance training and educational opportunities for law enforcement personnel, fostering the professional development of the police force.
During the meeting, chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the Board also decided to implement the SAP accounting system—a widely used double-entry accounting framework in the corporate sector. To facilitate this transition, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Controller General of Pakistan is expected to be signed next week.
Chairman Randhawa directed the preparation of a comprehensive financial report, modeled after corporate sector standards, by the end of the current financial year. This report will outline the CDA’s achievements and future targets. Additionally, the Board instructed the compilation of a detailed inventory of the CDA’s assets by the same deadline.
A committee, led by Member Finance and including the Director Land, Director Municipal Administration, and Director General BCS, was also formed to identify and review CDA’s rented properties in Islamabad.
In a move toward modernizing public services, the Board decided to transition to cashless payments for various services in the capital. It was reported that payments for 165 services at the CDA’s one-window service center have already been made cashless. Charges for water tankers and the Islamabad Water account are now payable via QR codes. The next phase will extend cashless payments to fines and other charges from the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA), Environment, and Enforcement departments.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized the importance of transparency and efficiency, stating that adopting modern systems like SAP and cashless transactions is essential to improving service delivery and ensuring financial accountability.
