Charsadda (Khyber Mail): In a decisive counterterrorism operation, Charsadda City Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Mardan Region successfully neutralized two notorious target killers—Ismail, son of Mir Alam, and Hamza, son of Alam Zaib—both residents of Kachay Konar, Tehsil Dargai, District Malakand. The suspects were wanted in multiple cases of terrorism, murder, and attempted murder, including the targeted killing of Constable Farooq on Ghani Khan Road earlier this year.
Acting on credible intelligence that the suspects were planning another attack while hiding at a relative’s residence, law enforcement agencies established a tactical checkpoint in the Dhab Banda area. Upon being signaled to stop, the suspects opened fire on police personnel. In the ensuing exchange, both were killed on the spot. Authorities recovered two pistols and a motorcycle from the scene.
The operation is being hailed as a major breakthrough in the region’s ongoing efforts to dismantle militant networks. Constable Farooq, who was martyred in April while en route to his NAB posting, had become a symbol of sacrifice in the fight against terrorism2. His funeral was attended by senior officials, including DPO Suleman Zafar, who vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to justice—a promise now fulfilled.
Charsadda, located just 29 kilometers from Peshawar, has remained a focal point in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s counterterrorism strategy. This latest success underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-based operations and the growing coordination between regional police and CTD units.
