Muzaffarabad (Khyber Mail): The Centre for International Strategic Studies Azad Jammu and Kashmir (CISS-AJK) hosted a roundtable discussion to commemorate Youm-e-Tashakur, bringing together research faculty and experts to reflect on Pakistan’s strategic achievements and its evolving role in regional stability.

The session was led by Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja, Executive Director CISS-AJK, who congratulated the nation and armed forces on the successful culmination of Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos and Marka-e-Haq. She emphasized the importance of academic research in shaping national defense strategies, urging scholars to continue contributing to policy-making through rigorous strategic discourse.

Syeda Tahreem Bukhari, Associate Director at CISS-AJK, presented an analysis of strategic stability following the Kashmir crisis, stressing the urgency of resolving the issue and warning of potential future aggression from India under its current leadership.

Zohaib Altaf, Associate Director CISS-AJK, provided a detailed evaluation of the technological and operational dimensions of Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, describing it as a textbook example of multi-domain warfare. He highlighted Pakistan’s military advancements and the integration of defense systems that effectively countered India’s conventional superiority. Altaf reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, advocating for dialogue and confidence-building measures (CBMs) to ensure long-term stability in the region.

Tayyaba Khurshid, Researcher at CISS-AJK, discussed the post-crisis security landscape, particularly the role of DGMO hotlines and the non-attack agreement between Pakistan and India. She acknowledged the effectiveness of these mechanisms but cautioned that Indian war rhetoric and jingoism continue to challenge peace efforts.

Participants also engaged in a broader discussion on the internationalization of the Kashmir issue, proposing practical strategies for Pakistan to strengthen its diplomatic outreach and present its case more effectively on global platforms.

The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and a collective prayer for the unity, strength, and continued progress of the Pakistani nation.
