KOHAT (Khyber Mail): Commissioner Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah has called on the public to prioritize polio vaccination over common demands such as electricity, roads, and gas. Emphasizing the health and future of children, he urged every member of society to ensure their children receive polio drops to prevent lifelong disability.
Speaking at an awareness session at Type D Hospital Lachi, organized under the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s “Awami Agenda,” Commissioner Shah addressed the recent boycott of polio vaccination in Union Council Mandori of Tehsil Lachi. The session was attended by Daud Shah Afridi MPA, Tehsil Chairman Lachi Ehsan Khan, EPI Coordinator Dr. Mohabbat Ali Bangash, frontline workers, and community members.
Commissioner Shah commended the efforts of polio teams during the recent campaign and reiterated the national responsibility of parents to vaccinate their children. MPA Daud Afridi also appealed to the public to separate their daily demands from polio vaccination, stressing the importance of immunizing children against polio and 12 other diseases under the EPI program. He urged the community to trust the government and seek guidance from elders and religious leaders to dispel any misconceptions.
EPI Coordinator Dr. Mohabbat Ali Bangash highlighted the need to support frontline workers and address their challenges. He noted that the session aimed to raise awareness about polio vaccination and address community concerns, marking it as a successful event.
