Lahore (Khyber Mail): A potential disaster was averted when a Fly Jinnah passenger plane made an emergency landing at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore due to a fire alert.

The aircraft, carrying 171 passengers, encountered the emergency shortly after takeoff from Karachi on Monday evening. Passengers reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the engine about 20 minutes into the flight.

The crew promptly initiated emergency procedures, and the plane landed safely at Lahore Airport.

Emergency exit slides were deployed to evacuate all passengers, who were safely evacuated without any injuries.

The airport’s fire department was on standby and conducted thorough inspections of the aircraft, confirming no further hazards.

Fly Jinnah and airport officials are investigating the incident, working closely with aviation safety authorities to determine the cause of the fire.
