Addis Ababa (Agencies): Ethiopia and Pakistan have taken a significant step toward enhancing bilateral cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for regular political consultations. The agreement was signed on Thursday in Addis Ababa by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, and Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary, Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan.

Ambassador Mesganu expressed Ethiopia’s eagerness to deepen ties with Pakistan in various sectors, including agriculture, trade, investment, aviation, industry, and science and technology. He reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to South-South cooperation as a guiding principle in strengthening global partnerships.

Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral collaboration and highlighted the role of Ethiopian Airlines’ direct flights to Karachi in fostering closer ties between the two nations.

The MoU is expected to serve as a framework for regular engagement, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration in multiple fields. Both sides aim to build on this momentum to further enhance relations and contribute to shared development goals.
