PESHAWAR (Khyber Mail): The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, held a meeting at the Governor House with a representative delegation from the literary community led by Professor Gulzar Jalal, Chairman of the Academy of Letters Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The delegation included notable poets, writers, and researchers such as Professor Abasin Yousafzai, Professor Nasir Ali Syed, Professor Ishaq Wardag, Professor Aseer Mengal, Samina Qadir, Kulsoom Zaib, Shams Momand, and Amjad Ali Khadim.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the promotion of literature and culture, as well as the challenges faced by literary figures. The delegation presented various suggestions to the Governor, including the organization of book fairs, literary conferences, and initiatives to encourage young writers.

The conversation also highlighted the importance of preserving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s literary traditions and cultural heritage. The delegation emphasized that poets and writers are a sensitive community, and there is a lack of government support for the publication of books, organization of literary conferences, and other activities, causing difficulties for those in the field of literature.

Governor Kundi stressed the significance of literature in societal development, stating, “Education and literature play a fundamental role in building a prosperous and civilized society.” He assured the delegation of his full support in addressing the challenges faced by literary figures.

The Governor called on the provincial government to not only support the literary circles but also to take practical steps to promote literature, similar to the initiatives taken in Sindh and Punjab. He expressed his belief in the potential of the youth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying, “Our youth have the ability to excel in all fields, and I wish for them to advance in every domain.”

Governor Kundi reiterated his commitment to providing all possible assistance to overcome the challenges faced by the literary community and to foster the growth of literature and culture in the region.
