Islamabad (Agencies): In a major relief measure, the government has announced a reduction in monthly fuel adjustment charges for households consuming up to 300 units of electricity and agricultural tubewells.

Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari stated on Wednesday that the decision aims to ease the financial burden on farmers and low-consumption households.

According to the Power Division spokesperson, the benefit of reduced fuel adjustment charges for 300-unit consumers was discontinued in June 2015, while agricultural tubewells lost this relief even earlier, in December 2010. The Power Division has formally requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to reinstate these adjustments.

By waiving these charges, the government expects a tangible reduction in monthly electricity bills for both categories, providing much-needed relief amid rising costs.
