Kurram, KP – Pakistan (Agencies): In a significant move towards lasting peace, the Grand Jirga, under the special directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, convened a meeting led by Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Muatassim Billah Shah. The session, which included over 100 individuals from both factions in Kurram District, reached several key decisions aimed at sustainable peace.

DIG Kohat Sher Akbar Khan also attended the meeting. The Grand Jirga members held extensive consultations with both parties, individually and collectively, resulting in a unanimous agreement on an indefinite ceasefire in Kurram District. Both sides pledged to vacate their positions until the Grand Jirga’s final decision.

The factions agreed that conflict and disputes are not the solutions to any problem, and a permanent and sustainable resolution to this decades-long issue requires time, sincerity, and trust from both sides. They also vowed to remain committed to achieving complete and lasting peace in Kurram, ensuring a brighter future for their children and the area’s stability.

Commissioner Kohat assured that the government would fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining long-term peace in Kurram District and ensure law and order.
