PESHAWAR: A team of USAID-funded HESSA (Higher Education System Strengthening Activity) project visited the University of Peshawar on Friday, and held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Idrees.

The HESSA team was led by the Chief of Party Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam and comprised renowned academician and Deputy Chief of Party Dr. Ayesha Razzaque, and Manager Admin and Finance Mr. Naveed Ali.

The Vice-Chancellor briefed the visiting delegation about the steps taken by the university for improving student support services, developing its strategic plan, and conducting staff training.

The HESSA officials lauded the university initiatives and expressed trust that the university will play a leadership role in improving the higher education landscape in the country. The possibility of developing CHRCD as a hub of HESSA training was also discussed.

Later, the HESSA team visited the Business Incubation Centre (BIC) where the Project Director briefed the guests about the proposed eco-system of startups and how the BIC will foster the entrepreneurship culture at the campus.

The delegation concluded its tour with a visit to the Psychology Department where the Chair of the Department Prof. Dr. Erum Irshad briefed them about various Psychology Clinics and the community services they are providing. The visiting officials commended the efforts and role of the department and discussed the possibilities of strengthening the clinics under the HESSA project.
