Islamabad (Agencies): The Ministry of Housing and Works on Monday rebutted as “entirely incorrect and misleading” a news item published in a section of the press regarding a 45% hike in the rental ceiling for government employees. Referring to a media report titled “Govt employees get 45pc rent bump,” the spokesperson stated that the Ministry of Housing and Works had issued no such office memorandum.
The ministry clarified that a fictitious and artificially generated office memorandum was circulating on social media, which formed the basis of the reported story. Earlier, the Public Relations Officer at the ministry had confirmed that the document in question was not authentic.
The Estate Office under the ministry is currently conducting a survey of market rent rates for residential accommodations at six specified stations, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta. This survey is not yet final, and no official notification has been issued so far.
