Islamabad (Agencies): Huawei Technologies Pakistan and COMSATS University Islamabad have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish technical vocational training labs aimed at enhancing skill development in the field of information and communications technology (ICT).

The signing ceremony, held at Huawei’s Islamabad office, was attended by Federal Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, along with senior representatives from both institutions.

The partnership seeks to create employment opportunities for students and young technicians by equipping them with cutting-edge ICT skills. Huawei will provide state-of-the-art equipment and train COMSATS faculty to deliver technical courses. The initiative will initially launch at COMSATS University’s Lahore campus, with plans to expand to Karachi in the future.

Dr. Tahir Naeem, Director (P, D & HRD) at COMSATS University, expressed excitement over the collaboration, calling it a “significant step towards providing students with a comprehensive education in technology and innovation.”

Huawei’s Director Subsidiary Board, Ahmed Bilal Masud, highlighted the importance of industry-academia partnerships, stating, “By working with COMSATS, we aim to nurture talent and inspire the next generation of technology leaders.”

The MoU also opens doors for further cooperation, including knowledge exchange and fostering an innovative environment that benefits students, institutions, and the broader community.
