Karak (Khyber Mail) — July 5, 2025: Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak held a one-day training workshop titled “Understanding Media & Information Literacy: A Practical Approach Towards Digital Journalism”, aimed at equipping local journalists with essential skills to navigate the evolving digital media landscape. The event was organized by the university’s Media Section and Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), in collaboration with the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Karak and the District Youth Office.






The workshop drew active participation from regional journalists and media professionals, who engaged in sessions focused on media literacy, digital tools, fake news detection, and journalistic ethics. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily attended as the chief guest, emphasizing the pivotal role of journalists as the “eyes and ears of society.” He highlighted the growing responsibilities of media professionals in the digital age and stressed the importance of continuous skill development.

Dr. Anwar Mehsud (Lecturer, Communication & Media Studies) and Shabeer Ullah (Lecturer/PRO) served as resource persons, delivering lectures that blended theory with practical insights. Their sessions encouraged critical thinking and ethical reporting practices among participants.
District Youth Officer Kamran Ullah, who played a key role in facilitating the event, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting media training initiatives. He announced plans for future workshops to further strengthen journalistic capacity in the region.
The workshop concluded with a lively Q&A session, certificate distribution, and honorary shields presented to distinguished guests. In his closing remarks, Media In-charge Shabeer Ullah thanked all stakeholders and expressed optimism that such initiatives would enhance the quality and integrity of local journalism.
