Peshawar (Khyber Mail): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has emphasized the urgent need to devise a comprehensive mechanism for the promotion of sports activities in the province. This initiative aims to highlight the soft image of Pakistan on the global stage.
During a meeting with female squash players in Peshawar, Governor Kundi highlighted the abundant talent among the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He assured that efforts are underway to secure sponsorships for various sports disciplines in the province. “There is no dearth of talent in our youth, and we are committed to providing them with the necessary support and opportunities,” he stated.
Governor Kundi also noted that many prominent athletes who have brought international acclaim to Pakistan hail from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stressed the importance of nurturing this talent through structured programs and adequate facilities.
In addition to his focus on squash, Governor Kundi discussed broader plans for sports development in the province. These include proposals for establishing cricket academies in Peshawar, Malakand, and Dera Ismail Khan, as well as enhancing facilities for football, volleyball, and other regional sports.
The Governor’s commitment extends beyond sports, as he also aims to empower women and advance youth development by involving them in decision-making processes. This holistic approach is expected to foster a more inclusive and dynamic sports culture in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
