Peshawar (Khyber Mail): M Umair Mufakir, a 26-year-old environmental scholar pursuing an MS in Environmental Studies, has been named the Country Contact Point for the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) 2025 Pakistan. Renowned for his tireless advocacy for climate action and youth empowerment, Umair is set to play a pivotal role in amplifying young voices in climate negotiations at both national and international levels.
As the Founder and CEO of the Native Youth Club for Climate Change (NYCCC), Umair has transformed the organization into a nationwide platform dedicated to empowering youth through education, advocacy, and sustainable initiatives. Under his visionary leadership, NYCCC thrives on the mission of “Empowering Youth for Climate Action,” inspiring countless individuals to contribute to climate solutions.
Umair is also an accomplished author, recognized for his influential book Climate Education for Primary and Secondary Schools.
