ISLAMABAD (Agencies): High-powered officials and government delegations arrived in Karachi on a maiden flight of Ethiopian Airlines, which landed at Jinnah International Airport and was given a warm welcome by Pakistani authorities and government officials.




Jemal Beker Abdula, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, received the delegations here at the airport along with Chief Minister of Sindh H.E. Syed Murad Ali Shah and other provincial ministers and businessmen.
A reception and inauguration ceremony was also held at the Airport which was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador said Ethiopian Airlines would operate four flights a week from Addis Ababa to Karachi and vice versa. This will transform the whole landscape of bilateral relations between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan by giving a major boost to people-to-people and business-to-business contacts.
He extended gratitude to all those who supported the Embassy of Ethiopia in Pakistan in starting the flight operations of Ethiopian Airlines from Karachi.
