Mirpur (Khyber Mail): Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ambassador Dato Mohammad Azhar bin Mazlan, visited the Mirpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) on February 27, 2025. Accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission Mohd. Syafik Firdaus bin Hasbullah, the envoy engaged with key business leaders to explore investment opportunities and strengthen bilateral economic ties.

Upon arrival, the High Commissioner was warmly welcomed by general and executive members of MCCI, along with former Presidents of the Chamber. Notable attendees included former AJK Minister Ch. M. Saeed, Chair of District Council Raja Naveed Akhtar Goga, former AJK Chamber of Commerce President Ch. Sohaib Saeed, and Mirpur Mayor Ch. Usman Khalid.
Ambassador Dato Azhar commended the Government of Pakistan and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) for prioritizing agriculture, highlighting Malaysia’s interest in collaborating within the sector. He also expressed enthusiasm for potential investments in palm oil, rubber, technology, education, and tourism, acknowledging the economic potential of AJK.
President of MCCI, Umar Shehzad, discussed the business and investment-friendly environment in AJK, inviting both domestic and international investors to explore the region’s economic prospects.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs, symbolizing goodwill and strengthening cooperation between Malaysia and the Mirpur business community. The engagement, attended by prominent figures including Ali Raza Syed and newly elected Mirpur District Bar President Adv. Mahmood Hussain, marked an important step toward fostering economic collaboration and mutual growth.
