Peshawar (Khyber Mail): The Medical Professional Education Department (MPED) at Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre successfully hosted a symposium titled “Mastering Intrauterine Insemination: Workshop for Clinical Excellence” on Thursday, September 5, 2024. The workshop, designed for postgraduate trainees, was led by Dr. Gul-E-Rana, a renowned expert in the field.
The session provided a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience in Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), a widely used assisted reproductive technique. Globally, IUI accounts for approximately 15% of all fertility treatments, with success rates averaging 10% to 20% per cycle. These rates can increase to 40% when combined with ovarian stimulation. IUI is particularly effective for patients under 35 years old and those with mild infertility, offering a cost-effective alternative to more invasive methods like IVF.
Dr. Sidra Jabbar Khan, Dean of MPED, expressed her gratitude to Dr. Gul-E-Rana for her valuable contributions. She emphasized the importance of such workshops in enhancing clinical expertise and highlighted the need for further sessions focusing on diagnostic procedures to improve postgraduate trainees’ competencies and elevate the standards of medical training at NWGH & RC.
