ISLAMABAD (Khyber Mail): National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Belarus, particularly through enhanced parliamentary engagement. During a meeting with Mr. Igor Sergeyenko, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus in Minsk, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the importance of this visit in advancing bilateral relations.
“This visit marks an important step forward in our bilateral relations. We deeply appreciate your hospitality and are eager to build on the foundations laid over the past 30 years of diplomatic relations,” remarked Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
He highlighted the need to deepen parliamentary relations and expand the legal framework for cooperation. “We are committed to revisiting and updating existing agreements to ensure they are more effective. Our Parliament will actively work on these frameworks to facilitate closer interaction,” he stated.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also reiterated Pakistan’s support for Belarus on international platforms, including its bid to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He affirmed Pakistan’s willingness to support Belarus in joining various organizations where Pakistan is a member. “We believe that our collaboration can be mutually beneficial, and we are ready to offer our support wherever possible,” he emphasized.
Mr. Igor Sergeyenko expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent support at international forums and welcomed the visit of the Pakistani parliamentary delegation, which included Members of the National Assembly M. Aslam Ghumman, Syed Tariq Hussain, and Syed Hafeezuddin. He noted this visit as a significant milestone in strengthening ties between the two countries.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing efforts for closer cooperation and mutual understanding in the years ahead.
