Islamabad (Agencies): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a Rs 2.56 per unit increase in the power tariff for June under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism. The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G), representing XWDISCOs, had initially requested a Rs 2.63 per unit hike. According to the CPPA-G, the actual electricity cost was Rs 9.70 per unit, compared to the reference fuel charges of Rs 7.14 per unit.

This increase will apply to all consumer categories except Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and lifeline consumers. It will be reflected separately in the consumers’ bills based on the units billed in June 2024. The adjustment will be included in the billing for August 2024.
