Islamabad (Agencies): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a reduction in electricity tariffs by 75 paisa per unit for power distribution companies (DISCOs) and 49 paisa per unit for K-Electric consumers under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) mechanism.
The tariff cut applies to power usage in November 2024 for DISCOs and October 2024 for K-Electric. NEPRA’s notification follows petitions from the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), which sought a 63 paisa per unit reduction for DISCOs, and K-Electric’s request for a 27 paisa per unit cut.
The reduction will not apply to lifeline consumers, domestic users consuming up to 300 units, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS), prepaid electricity users, or agricultural consumers of DISCOs. However, domestic consumers with Time of Use (ToU) meters will benefit from the adjustment regardless of their consumption levels.
The revised tariffs will reflect in electricity bills for January 2025.
