Peshawar (Khyber Mail): A massive operation was launched to remove illegal encroachments along Arbab Road, resulting in the demolition of dozens of illegal shops, three plazas, a house, a hotel, and a clinic. Encroachments on a 600-foot stretch on both sides of the road were cleared, aiming to resolve traffic congestion and ease public inconvenience.
The operation was spearheaded by Assistant Commissioner University Town, Haroon Saleem, under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram. Collaborating with Chief Demolition Superintendent of the Capital Metropolitan Government West Zone, Qaiser Bacha, demolition squads, and a large contingent of local police, the team addressed longstanding public complaints about severe traffic issues in the area.
While supervising the operation, Assistant Commissioner Haroon Saleem highlighted that the illegal structures had caused chronic traffic jams, resulting in lengthy vehicle queues and significant public distress. With the encroachments removed, the road has been reopened, restoring smooth traffic flow.
Haroon Saleem further stated that the crackdown on illegal encroachments will continue and expand to other areas. He assured the public that no leniency would be shown to violators, as the administration remains committed to addressing traffic and urban planning challenges.
