Islamabad (Agencies): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday announced the establishment of a Federal Anti-Riots Force to effectively combat chaos and disorder following recent unrest in Islamabad.
Chairing a high-level meeting on the capital’s law and order situation, the Prime Minister formed a task force led by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, which includes Law and Justice Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and security officials.
The task force aims to identify and prosecute individuals involved in recent violent incidents, ensuring they face exemplary punishment under the law.
The new Federal Anti-Riots Force will be equipped with advanced professional capabilities and international-standard equipment to prevent future disturbances, enhancing the country’s ability to maintain peace and stability.
The meeting also approved several measures to bolster law enforcement and justice, including the establishment of a Federal Forensic Lab, modernization of the Islamabad Safe City Project, and expansion of the Federal Prosecution Service.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to stability and progress, urging citizens to stand against disruptions and work together to safeguard the nation’s economic and national interests. He praised the peaceful nature of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, dismissing recent disruptors as unrepresentative of the province’s majority.
This announcement reflects a proactive approach to maintaining law and order, signaling the government’s resolve to address security challenges and ensure national stability.
