Quetta (Agencies): In a significant move to address the security situation in Balochistan, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting of the Apex Committee of the National Action Plan in Quetta. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs M. Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, and several federal and provincial ministers, along with senior civil, police, intelligence, and military officials.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister praised the sacrifices and contributions of the people of Balochistan towards national progress and development. He vowed that the enemies of Pakistan, who aim to create unrest in Balochistan, would be defeated with full force and national support. The Prime Minister expressed grief over the recent tragic incidents in Balochistan and assured that those responsible for shedding innocent blood would not be spared.
The participants offered Fateha for the Shuhada of recent terrorist attacks, expressing solidarity with the victims’ families and commending the bravery of security forces. The committee condemned the cowardly terrorist attacks and resolved to intensify counter-terrorism efforts in the province. A comprehensive review of the security situation and ongoing operations against terrorists was conducted, with a decision to enhance intelligence sharing and coordination among security forces and law enforcement agencies.
The forum agreed to bolster the capacity of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Police, Levies, and associated departments. Both the Prime Minister and the Army Chief reaffirmed their commitment to preventing any disruption to the peace and development of Balochistan.
The committee also vowed to bring the planners, instigators, facilitators, and perpetrators of the attacks to justice, ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and properties. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Prime Minister distributed cheques to the families of those martyred in the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan.
