Karachi (Agencies): Intelligence agencies have intercepted communications suggesting that suspected Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants may be planning a terrorist attack targeting the Karachi Shipyard and its surrounding infrastructure. The intercepted discussions indicate a possible assault on ships in the harbor, key installations, or critical infrastructure in the area.
Security assessments suggest that the BLA, which has a history of attacking strategic assets for media attention and operational disruption, could potentially use vehicle or vessel-borne improvised explosive devices (IEDs), small arms attacks, or even sea-borne suicide assaults to execute their plan.
In response to the threat, authorities have implemented heightened security measures at the Karachi Shipyard and adjacent harbor areas. Additional armed personnel have been deployed, security posts reinforced, and CCTV surveillance enhanced at all entry and exit points.
Furthermore, security forces are conducting random inspections of ships, vehicles, and personnel while strengthening access control to critical areas. Intelligence coordination between the Pakistan Navy (PN), Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW), and Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has been increased to facilitate real-time threat monitoring.
A Quick Reaction Force (QRF) has been placed on high alert, with contingency drills being conducted to ensure rapid response in case of an attack. Authorities have urged all personnel and stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
Given the recent escalation of BLA activities in the region, security forces are treating the threat with the utmost seriousness and are fully prepared to counter any potential attack.
