Islamabad (Khyber Mail): The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad commemorated Vesak, the most sacred day in the Buddhist calendar, with a special ceremony on May 12, 2025. Acting High Commissioner A. Christy Ruban hosted the celebration, welcoming diplomats and their families from Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, along with Sri Lankan nationals working with UNICEF Pakistan.

The program included traditional offerings to Buddha and devotional prayers, fostering a sense of peace and spiritual reflection among attendees. A Dansela (almsgiving) was arranged by the High Commission staff and their families, emphasizing the values of generosity and compassion.

To mark the occasion, Vesak lanterns, Buddhist flags, and decorative lights adorned the Temple and High Commission premises, creating a serene and festive atmosphere. The event highlighted Sri Lanka’s commitment to promoting Buddhist culture and interfaith harmony within diplomatic circles in Pakistan.
