PESHAWAR: A one day seminar on “Corruption Free Pakistan” was organized by the Department of Social Work, University of Peshawar in collaboration with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), to commemorate the International Anti-Corruption Day at SSAQ museum, university of Peshawar.

Dr Shakeel Ahmed chairman department of social work welcomed the guests and participants in the opening remarks.

The speakers of the session were Prof. Dr Muhammad Idrees Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, Qari Roohullah Madani ( Ex provincial khateeb Auqaf, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Prof. Dr Sara Safdar ( Ex dean, faculty of Social Sciences, University of Peshawar), Mian Waqar Khan, Director (NAB), Prof. Dr. Zahid Anwar, Pro Vice chancellor, University of Peshawar and Prof. Dr Imran Ahmed Sajid.

Prof. Dr Zahid Anwar gave his remarks on the theme “Corruption Free Pakistan” and further Qari Roohullah Madani provided a detailed explanation and knowledge about the theme he quoted that “corruption is a disease that disrupts the society”.

Prof. Dr Sara Safdar in her speech explained the various causes of corruption she said ” corruption is the deviation from the right procedure. When we ignore our values it leads to the disruption of the society leading to social evils.”

Prof.Dr Imran Ahmed Sajid presented a research paper in order to explain the “Anti-corruption strategies in Pakistan.”

Mian Muhammad Waqar director( NAB) explained the National Accountability bureau’s perspective on corruption and how to eradicate it from society. He explained that” corruption is the misuse of Public office for the private gains it is also called white collar crime committed by a person with higher status.”

Students of the English literary and linguistics club, the University of Peshawar, performed their debate speeches on the theme of corruption.

Prof. Dr Muhammad Idrees Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar, in his closing remarks, acknowledged the efforts of the Department of Social Work and also appreciated the participation of students and guests.
