Peshawar (Khyber Mail): On Friday, September 27, 2024, US Consul General Shante Moore visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KPBOIT) and met with Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education, Abdul Karim Tordher, along with the KPBOIT team. Representatives from the All Pakistan Beekeepers, Exporters and Honey Traders’ Association, Industrialists Association Hattar SEZ, and Shaheed Benazir Women University Peshawar also attended the meeting.
The Special Assistant welcomed the US Consul General, while Director Business Facilitation Iqbal Sarwar briefed them on the investment and trade potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He emphasized the potential for extending bilateral trade cooperation between the United States and Pakistan across various sectors in the province.
Sarwar proposed establishing a mechanism for the exchange of business delegations and invited the US business community to participate in the Islamabad International Expo and Investment Conference 2024. He also highlighted the importance of regional connectivity, people-to-people exchange programs, and scholarships for students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Consul General praised KPBOIT’s efforts and pledged support and cooperation in various sectors. He emphasized the importance of regional connectivity and people-to-people exchange programs, and expressed a commitment to connecting the Pakistani-American diaspora with investment opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also discussed the potential for establishing sister state or sister city relationships with Peshawar.
The Special Assistant assured the delegation of full facilitation and support from the provincial government for potential US investments in the region. He reiterated the province’s openness to foreign investment and pledged full support for US investments in key areas.
