Islamabad (Khyber Mail): The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) convened a high-level meeting to finalize preparations for the Pakistan Women Leaders & Convention on National Women’s Day 2025. The event, scheduled for February 12, 2025, aims to highlight the progress and challenges in advancing gender equality across Pakistan.
The meeting, chaired by MNA Dr. Shahida Rehmani, Secretary of the WPC, brought together key stakeholders, including MNA Shahida Begum, Treasurer of the WPC, representatives from UN Women, and the European Union.
Dr. Shahida Rehmani emphasized the Caucus’ inclusive and non-partisan approach to empowering women and advancing gender equality. She reiterated the importance of strategic planning and cross-party collaboration in achieving meaningful progress. “Our focus remains on ensuring that women from all walks of life are represented and empowered,” she stated.
MNA Shahida Begum highlighted the significance of the Caucus’ achievements, noting that initiatives like the upcoming convention will serve as a catalyst for greater societal and legislative change.
Jamshed Kazi, a representative of UN Women, praised the WPC’s commitment and ongoing partnership with his organization. He expressed optimism about the upcoming event, which he believes will strengthen future collaborations for gender equality in Pakistan.
The meeting concluded with a unified commitment to making the National Women’s Day 2025 celebration a success and continuing efforts toward building a more inclusive, equitable society for women in Pakistan.
