PESHAWAR (Khyber Mail): An awareness-cum-consultative workshop took place at the Archives Library in Peshawar, focusing on patent, copyright, and trademark registration. The workshop was organized under the Patenting and Prototyping Support Programme (PPS), a joint effort by the Directorate General of Science and Technology (DoST), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Intellectual Property Organization Pakistan (IPO).
Distinguished attendees included Farukh Amil, Chairman IPO Pakistan, and Amjad Shah, Director General DoST, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Experts in science and technology, along with researchers, academia, and students from public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, participated in the event.
During the workshop, speakers emphasized the critical role of intellectual property registration in safeguarding innovations and creative works. They provided detailed presentations on the processes and advantages of intellectual property registration, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect their creations and innovations. The workshop concluded with a ceremony where shields were distributed among guest speakers in appreciation of their valuable contributions.
Notably, the PPS Programme, part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Science Agenda 2022, now offers small grants of up to PKR 1.5 million to support patent filing and the development of early-stage prototypes for researchers, students, startups, and small and medium enterprises in the province.
