Islamabad (Agencies): The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will host a two-day workshop beginning Sunday to advance women’s rights and foster an inclusive political environment.
The initiative, led by WPC Secretary and Member of the National Assembly Dr. Shahida Rehmani, will feature the “Thought Leadership Workshop” on December 1 and the “Digital Democracy Workshop” on December 2. These events are part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, aiming to address pressing issues such as gender-based violence, legal and social safety for women, and the eradication of harassment in all forms.
Dr. Rehmani will deliver keynote addresses, emphasizing the workshops’ goals of empowering women legislators and promoting inclusive participation in Pakistan’s upcoming General Elections. She will highlight the importance of ethical parliamentary practices, digital literacy to combat technology-facilitated gender-based violence, and skills to manage social media narratives against misinformation and propaganda.
A panel of prominent journalists, media experts, and social advocates will engage in interactive sessions to provide insights into the challenges faced by women in politics and society. Discussions will center on legislation and digital tools to address women-centric issues and uphold digital democracy.
This collaborative effort underscores the WPC’s commitment to creating a safer, equitable society and strengthening the role of women in Pakistan’s political landscape.
