ISLAMABAD (Khyber Mail): The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is reportedly considering the procurement of 15 JF-17 Block 3 jets from Pakistan. This potential acquisition would significantly enhance Nigeria’s air combat capabilities, building on their previous procurement of three JF-17 Thunder jets from Pakistan in 2021.
The JF-17 Block 3 is an advanced variant of the JF-17 Thunder, featuring improved avionics, radar systems, and weaponry. This model is co-developed by Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) and China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC). The Block 3 variant is expected to provide superior performance in terms of speed, maneuverability, and combat effectiveness.
If finalized, this deal would mark a significant step in the defense collaboration between Nigeria and Pakistan, reflecting Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to modernize its military capabilities to address various security challenges.
