- KYIV admits 10 causalities while Russia claims over 70 personals killed
KYIV (Agencies): A Russian missile strike targeted a Ukrainian military shooting range on Tuesday, killing six servicemen and injuring at least 10 others, Ukraine’s National Guard confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.
The attack took place in the Sumy region, near the Russian border, where Ukrainian forces were conducting training exercises. The commander of the unit has since been suspended, and an internal investigation is underway to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Russia’s Defense Ministry, however, claimed that the strike resulted in up to 70 casualties, including 20 instructors. The Ukrainian National Guard has refuted the numbers, stating that the official investigation will provide a legal assessment of all responsible individuals.
This missile strike follows previous deadly attacks on Ukrainian military training camps, prompting investigations into possible negligence.
For over three years, Moscow’s forces have continued to target Ukrainian military educational institutions, causing casualties at formal gatherings and training sites. Ukrainian officials have condemned the attack, emphasizing the need for increased defensive measures against ongoing aggression.
