TALLAHASSEE, Florida (Agencies): State senators have filed a new bill, SB 56, aimed at prohibiting the injection, release, or dispersion of chemicals or apparatus into the atmosphere for the express purpose of affecting the temperature, weather, or intensity of sunlight.

The bill, introduced by Republican Senator Ileana Garcia, outlines strict penalties for individuals or corporations engaging in such activities.

The bill is part of a broader effort to address environmental concerns and ensure that weather modification activities do not disrupt natural atmospheric conditions.

If passed, SB 56 will take effect on July 1, 2025, and will repeal several existing provisions related to weather modification licensing and operations.

This legislative move reflects Florida’s commitment to maintaining environmental integrity and preventing unauthorized interventions in weather patterns.
