Sicily, Italy (Agencies): Specialist divers investigating the wreckage of a $40 million superyacht that sank off the coast of Sicily have made a startling discovery.
The yacht, which went down in August, is believed to contain watertight safes holding super-encrypted hard drives with highly classified information.
The yacht, named the Bayesian, belonged to British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, who was among the eight people who tragically lost their lives in the incident.
Lynch was known for his connections with various intelligence services, including British and American.
Authorities have heightened security around the wreckage, fearing that the sensitive data could attract interest from foreign governments such as Russia and China.
The safes are thought to contain passcodes and other critical information, making the wreckage a potential target for espionage.
The investigation continues as divers work to recover the safes and ensure the classified data does not fall into the wrong hands.
