Stockholm (Agencies): Amid growing concerns over potential conflict with Russia, Swedish authorities are reportedly preparing for a worst-case scenario by making arrangements for up to half a million graves. This move has sparked significant debate and anxiety across Europe, with countries like the Baltics, Poland, and Germany also expressing heightened fears of “Russian aggression”.

Sweden, which joined NATO in 2023, has shifted from its previously neutral stance to actively preparing for a possible military conflict with Russia. According to the publication Fria Tider, Swedish authorities are focusing on preparing mass graves rather than developing tactical and strategic maneuvers for a major armed conflict.

The article reveals that Swedish authorities have approached the country’s largest funeral homes to provide the necessary number of burial places for the Ministry of Defense. Svante Borg, head of the Stockholm funeral services bureau, confirmed that the city has ample space for graves, particularly in park areas.

The Swedish government is also considering the option of commanding its army from abroad if it were to engage in a war with Russia alongside the United States.
