TERMEZ – Uzbekistan (Khyber Mail): The city of Termez is set to host the inaugural Termez Dialogue on Connectivity between Central and South Asia, taking place from May 19 to 21, 2025. The international forum, themed “Building a Common Space of Peace, Friendship, and Prosperity,” aims to enhance regional cooperation and connectivity.
Organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the event will bring together approximately 200 participants from across Central and South Asia, Europe, the CIS, Asia-Pacific, America, and the Middle East. Attendees will include policymakers, business leaders, representatives from financial institutions, and experts from international and regional organizations.
A key focus of the dialogue will be the implementation of the United Nations General Assembly resolution “Strengthening the Connectivity between Central and South Asia”, adopted in 2022 at the initiative of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Discussions will center on fostering economic growth, ensuring security and stability, and expanding the role of the private sector and financial institutions in regional development.
One of the main outcomes anticipated from the forum is the adoption of a Communique calling for collective efforts to build trust and deepen cooperation between Central and South Asia. The Termez Dialogue is envisioned as a long-term platform to advance interregional interconnectedness, contributing to peace and stability across Eurasia.
The event will take place at the Termez International Trade Center in Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region, marking a significant step toward regional collaboration and future diplomatic engagements.
